There has been a 42% drop in the number of petitions to Wind-Up companies being presented to the courts so far this year when compared to the same period in 2012
So far this year petitions to wind-up 86 Irish companies have been presented to the courts - an average of just under 10 per month - this represents a 42% drop on the figure for the same period in 2012 (149).
In order to present a petition to have a company wound up, an individual or a company (most likely a creditor) must be able to show that they are owed a minimum of €1,269.74 (1,000 in old Irish punts).
Of the 86 companies, 54 (63%) have been, or are in the process of being wound-up.
According to the latest financial accounts filed these companies owe their trade creditors over €33.9m
